Kids can be quite the helpers in the kitchen.   And, if they help with the cooking, they are more likely to eat the food served.   So how can you get kids interested in cooking?    Not just for girls but guys also like to cook.   In fact, a well-known blog is written by a mom with 3 sons who are always coming up with new kitchen “crafts” that are edible.   Many other websites have fun suggestions for kids.   Let’s look at some. How to get kids to eat more fruits and veggies

Everyone knows fruits and vegetables are good for your health.   But many parents don’t know about half of what a kid eats should be fruits and vegetables.   MyPlate shows a plate with half the plate being fruits and veggies.   Many parents aren’t serving kids even one fruit or vegetable at a meal, let alone 2 at each meal.   In fact, statistics show only 22% of kids ages 2-5 are getting the recommended servings of vegetables. Hello nutrition!   March is National Nutrition Month .   The American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics theme for 2016 is Savor the Flavor of Eating Right .   What is National Nutrition Month?     It was created by the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as a campaign to promote nutrition education and information.   Its focuses on consumers making informed decisions about food and promoting good eating habits and physical activity.                 What can you do to improve your nutrition and physical activity?         In honor of National Nutrition Month, U.S. News and World Report is has come up with   30 simple health tips to try each day of March .   They recommend “making small changes that will lead to big improvements”.   Some easy health tips to try this week are:      “Sip while you sit” – drink water w...
