Who doesn’t want healthier hair?   Almost everyday we are bombarded with commercials advertising products for healthier hair, for growing more hair.   My sister sent me some articles about foods to promote hair growth , strength and health.   Look around you today as you are out and about.   How many people do you see with shiny, thick, strong, healthy hair?   What foods could people with dull, thin hair add to their diet for healthier locks? What are some nutrients that promote healthier hair? What are the best foods for healthier hair?

You may have heard the saying, “You are what you eat”.   Are there foods that promote healthier hair?   What do nutritionists and researchers say? Are there foods, nutrients that promote hair growth? Should you switch to pink salt or sea salt?

Everyone has a salt shaker in their home.   For years this shaker was filled with Morton’s salt.   Everyone used Morton’s salt.   Then sea salt seemed to be popular.   Now the rage seems to be “pink salt”.   It has been around for a while. Apparently Trader Joe’s started selling pink salt in 2009.   If you read the label, most pink salt seems to branded as coming from the Himalayas in Pakistan.   However, one source said it comes from just south of the actual Himalayas in Pakistan.   There are lots of health claims for using sea salt and pink salt in place of Morton’s salt.   What salt should people use?   What is the benefit of using Morton’s Salt? One reason to use Morton’s salt is to get enough iodine. Diet Tips to Boost Your Immune System

Everyone seems to be talking about how to boost their immune system.   On the radio today a doctor recommended getting enough sleep, boost your immune system with vitamin C by drinking a glass of Orange Juice [be sure it is real juice and not a juice drink like Sunny D] and adding foods rich in zinc.   Zinc has been an especially hot topic on social media this week.   My sister sent me an article on boosting your immune system through diet.   A colleague in the United Kingdom at Movement & Nutrition posted about diet myths during this coronavirus crises.    Add some zinc rich foods to boost your immune system. Lisa Ballehr advises you to “ eat the rainbow ”.   I teach my students USDA’s recommendation to EAT 5 A DAY, at least 5 fruits and veggies every day.   When my students do their 24-hour diet recall it is surprising how few students get anywhere near 5 A DAY.   Their only vegetable is often French Fries and the “juice” ...
